The CEAS/AIAA 15th Aerodynamic Decelerator Systems Technology Conference and Seminar will be held June 8-11, 1999 in Toulouse, France. The purpose of the Conference is to present recent advances related to parachutes and aerodynamic decelerator system technologies in a forum that provides for free exchange of information and technical interaction and cooperation on an international scale. For the second time in six years, this conference is being held outside the United States in order to bolster international participation. The conference is being jointly sponsored by the Confederation of European Aerospace Societies (CEAS) and the AIAA and will be run by the CEAS host society, the Association of Aéronatique et Astronautique de France (AAAF).

Parachute Materials Technology is the subject of the one-day seminar scheduled for June 8, 1999. The seminar, presented by international speakers, will be divided into two sessions. The morning sessions will focus on advances in methods for modeling and characterizing woven textile performance, including dynamic stress-strain characteristics during high-speed inflation and the effects of aging and environmental exposure. The afternoon will be devoted to a review of recent developments in high-performance materials, bonding and joining methods, and test techniques. Each session will consist of a balanced presentation dealing not only with the theoretical foundations but also with the practical aspects required for successful application to real-world parachute design problems.

The three day conference will begin on June 9.Technical papers are solicited in all areas consistent with the stated purpose of the conference. These include progress, status, completion, and lessons-learned reports on any phase of the research, development, production and use of systems, subsystems, components, and materials. All papers and presentations will be in English and must be unclassified and cleared for presentation. Appropriate subject areas for technical papers include, but are not limited to:
